Portishead🚬"Glory Box" Live @ Roseland NYC circ.'97

Beth Gibbons Swoons as only she can

This Thursday we're throwin' it back to Portishead's '97 tryst with the New York Philharmonic at The Roseland Ballroom.  In '98, the product of said tryst was released into the wild and, going along with the genre defining band themselves, changed the way music was made and listened to...

It brought to light that weaving the wafting theremin with deep, dark arrangements of the NYPO all being stitched together by Beth Gibbons diaphanously delicate vocals really really works.  Like, a lot.

So, from the hot bed of trip-hop in Bristol to the bustling streets of NYC, Portishead swooned many worlds of music and created a one of a kind masterpiece.

Here is one of my favorite offerings from this show: "Glory Box" from Portishead's '94 debut release Dummy (Go! Beat).

It swoops and glides on gossamer wings🦋.

love,
