Here's "Rule the World", a precious piece by Michael Kiwanuka, song builder extraordinaire.
As I was listening to this song on repeat today I realized something. A good song and a freshly baked loaf of bread have a lot in common: They can be enjoyed unaccompanied, are soulful, warm, feel like a tight sincere hug - and they pair well with deep blue emotions.
The ones that spill uninvited tears down your cheeks as you squinch and contort your face... against all better judgment... in public places 🙈. Hey, it happens to us feelers of life. When you let everything in, it has a way of taking over at times.
And as Mr. Kiwanuka sings:
"Take me out of myself again, help me lose control
show me love, show me happiness
(love me) I can't do this on my own."
You breathe deep, turning your face upward - attempting to control the sob which inevitably erupts. Covering your face with wet hands, a few more loose warm tears stream down and, you just simply let it win.
Them feels tho. Soul overcoming body = sigh.
Ah, Mr. Kiwanuka, thank you. You've done it, yet again.
All my love,
