Beka Gochiashvili, Georgian Jazz musician and composer par excellence, has been playing the piano almost as long as he could speak. His father, a pianist himself, taught Beka to play Ragtime ala Scott Joplin (a family fave) when he was the ripe old age of...3. Its no wonder that he emerged into the music world as a prodigy... blowing seasoned jazz cats away when he was "just" 16.
One of these jazz cats, drummer Lenny White, met Beka at his workshop in NYC. He was impressed to say the least and took Beka under his wing... mentored Beka, the way Miles Davis, Horace Silver and Herbie Hancock did for him (woah).
Despite this outpouring of respect and admiration from his fellow (more seasoned) musicians, Beka is humble. No matter how accomplished of a musician he is, or how masterful he becomes... he will never profess his own greatness. In his opinion, that's for the listeners to decide.
